The Best Time of Year to Rent a Yacht in Dubai: A Month-by-Month Guide
When is the sea calmest, the heat bearable and the price fair? A practical month-by-month guide to booking a private yacht in Dubai Marina, written from the dock.

Boat pricing and optional extras: Only soft drinks are included in the quoted boat price. Decoration, cake service, catering, bar packages, chefs, entertainment, photography/video, kids' activity packages, water activities and surprise arrangements are optional extras at an additional charge, subject to availability. Do not assume captain, crew, fuel, water, ice, towels or other services are included; request a complete itemised written quote before booking.
The question we hear most after "how much?" is "when?". Guests flying in want to know if their dates are a good idea. Residents want to know if it is worth waiting for winter. The honest answer is that you can charter a yacht in Dubai all twelve months of the year, but the experience changes a lot from one season to the next: the heat, the sea, the light, the crowds and how early you need to book.
This guide walks through the year the way the season actually feels from the deck, so you can pick dates, times and a boat that suit your group.
The short answer
- Best overall: November to March. Warm days, cooler evenings, usually calm water and the best conditions for long daytime cruises.
- Best value: June to September. Fewer visitors and easier availability, but plan for evening departures because daytime heat is intense.
- Shoulder months: April, May and October. Often the sweet spot: warm sea, good light and less competition for weekend slots.
- Busiest dates: New Year's Eve, the December holidays, long weekends and major events. Book these weeks, sometimes months, ahead.
Dubai yacht weather by month
The figures below are typical long-term averages for Dubai, rounded. Treat them as a guide, not a forecast; always check the weather in the days before your charter.
| Month | Typical daytime high | Sea temperature | Approx. sunset | On the water |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 24°C | 22°C | 17:55 | Cool, fresh evenings; occasional windy days |
| February | 25°C | 22°C | 18:15 | Pleasant; some wind days |
| March | 28°C | 23°C | 18:30 | Excellent all day |
| April | 33°C | 25°C | 18:40 | Warm days, perfect evenings |
| May | 37°C | 28°C | 18:55 | Hot middays; go late afternoon |
| June | 39°C | 31°C | 19:10 | Evening cruises only, realistically |
| July | 41°C | 33°C | 19:10 | Very hot and humid; night cruises |
| August | 41°C | 33°C | 18:55 | Very hot and humid; night cruises |
| September | 39°C | 32°C | 18:25 | Still hot; evenings improve late month |
| October | 35°C | 30°C | 17:55 | Season returns; warm and settled |
| November | 30°C | 27°C | 17:35 | Excellent all day |
| December | 26°C | 24°C | 17:35 | Excellent; busiest month |
Two things the table does not show. First, sunset moves by more than an hour and a half across the year, which changes when you should book a sunset cruise in Dubai Marina. Second, humidity matters as much as heat: an August evening at 34°C feels heavier than an April afternoon at the same temperature.
Winter: November to March
This is peak season, and for good reason. You can cruise at midday without the deck getting too hot to walk on, anchor near Palm Jumeirah for a swim in water around 22–27°C, and stay out after dark with a light jacket.
What to know before booking a winter charter:
- Weekends fill first. Friday and Saturday afternoons and sunset slots go early from late November onwards. Two to three weeks' notice is sensible; for December, more.
- Wind is the main weather risk. Winter brings occasional strong north-westerly winds (the shamal). On those days the sea outside the Marina can get choppy, and the authorities sometimes restrict small-boat trips. A reputable operator will offer to move your date rather than take you out in unsafe conditions; ask how weather changes are handled before you pay.
- December is the busiest month of the year. Festive weeks and New Year's Eve on a yacht in Dubai Marina sell out well in advance and are priced as special events, not normal hourly charters.
Summer: June to September
Summer is the season most visitors avoid, and the one many residents quietly prefer. The Marina is quieter, last-minute availability is much better, and the water is bath-warm.
The trick is timing. From roughly mid-May to late September, plan to board after about 17:00 and stay out after dark. The midday sun on an open deck is genuinely harsh, and shade, cold drinks and a breeze matter more than anything else.

Practical summer tips from the dock:
- 1Book the evening, not the afternoon. A 2-hour charter starting around 18:30 catches the last light and the cooler hours.
- 2Choose a boat with good shade and indoor space. A larger yacht with an air-conditioned saloon gives guests somewhere to cool off. Ask which areas are covered.
- 3Bring more water than you think you need. Soft drinks are included in the boat price; anything beyond that should be confirmed in your quote.
- 4Night cruises are the summer highlight. The lit-up skyline, Ain Dubai and the Atlantis glow look their best after 20:00, and a yacht dinner cruise works well in this season.
The shoulder months: April, May and October
If your dates are flexible, these months are often the best compromise. The sea is warm enough to swim comfortably, the light in the late afternoon is beautiful, and weekend slots are easier to get than in December.
- April is arguably the nicest month of the year for an evening charter.
- May gets hot by midday; shift to late afternoon and sunset.
- October is when the season wakes up again. The first half can still be hot, but evenings become very pleasant towards the end of the month.
Ramadan and public holidays
Ramadan moves about 11 days earlier each year, so check the dates for your trip. Yacht charters continue during Ramadan, but daytime eating and drinking in public is expected to be discreet, music and party plans are usually toned down, and evenings after Iftar become the popular time. Eid holidays and UAE national holidays tend to be busy, so book ahead.
Best time of day, whatever the season
The season decides the conditions; the time of day decides the experience.
- Morning (around 9:00–12:00): calmest water most of the year and the best choice in winter for swimming and photos.
- Afternoon into sunset: the most requested slot. Board about 90 minutes before sunset so you are out by the Palm when the light turns gold.
- Night (after 19:30): skyline lights, cooler air and the best option from June to September.
Does the season change the price?
Our hourly rates are the same base rate through the year; what changes is availability. These are the current private charter rates for our fleet:
| Yacht | Guests | From (per hour) |
|---|---|---|
| Prestige 35 | up to 8 | AED 550 |
| Pearl 48 | up to 15 | AED 650 |
| Majesty 50 | up to 15 | AED 650 |
| Ammos 50 | up to 15 | AED 750 |
| Bella Vita 66 | up to 25 | AED 800 |
| Onyx 90 | up to 50 | AED 1,100 |
| Crown 90 | up to 50 | AED 1,800 |
Special dates such as New Year's Eve are quoted separately, and weekends may carry a minimum booking length. For a full breakdown of what affects the total, see our yacht rental price guide and the article on hidden charges to ask about.
A quick example: six friends in March booking the Prestige 35 for a 2-hour sunset cruise would pay from AED 1,100 for the boat, roughly AED 185 each, before any optional extras.
How far ahead should you book?
| Period | Suggested notice |
|---|---|
| Summer weekdays | A few days is often enough |
| Summer weekends | About 1 week |
| Winter weekdays | 1–2 weeks |
| Winter weekends | 2–3 weeks |
| December holidays and NYE | 1–3 months |
Bigger boats such as the Onyx 90 and Crown 90 are fewer in number, so book those earlier for birthdays, corporate events or a yacht party.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best month to rent a yacht in Dubai?
March, April and November are usually the best balance of warm weather, comfortable evenings, calm seas and availability. December is also excellent but it is the busiest and books up early.
Is it too hot to go on a yacht in Dubai in summer?
Not if you go in the evening. From June to September, board after about 17:00, choose a yacht with shade or an indoor saloon and keep the cruise to 2–3 hours.
Can a yacht trip be cancelled because of the weather?
Yes, occasionally, mostly on windy winter days when sea conditions are unsafe or the authorities restrict trips. Ask your operator in writing how weather-related changes and refunds are handled before you pay.
What time should I book a sunset yacht cruise in Dubai?
Plan to board about 90 minutes before sunset. That means roughly 16:00 in November and December and around 17:30 in June.
Are yacht prices cheaper in summer?
Our base hourly rates stay the same, but summer gives you much better availability, including weekend slots that would be fully booked in winter.
